Why does my loose leaf tea taste and smell dusty? - loose leaf tea

I've recently bought a small, black tea leaf, but the feeling that it smells very dusty, almost like a piece of shit. I thought the tea was sitting in the same place for a while and this problem after the tea shop would not exist. But to my dismay at the tea had more power than the dust / musty taste. Any idea what can one person do against this?
